PROFESSOR/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR/SENIOR LECTURER/LECTURER IN FINANCE (2 Posts)
WESTVILLE CAMPUS

The School of Accounting, Economics and Finance wishes to appoint academics who will
contribute actively to the training and education of undergraduate and postgraduate
students in Finance and to build the knowledge base of the discipline through teaching,
research, administration of teaching activities and relevant community engagement.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: (objectively measurable from CV)
Professor
A relevant doctoral degree;
Minimum of ten years teaching in the discipline at a higher education institution;
A current and sustained research publication record in peer-reviewed accredited
journals appropriate for this level;
Successful supervision of postgraduate students at Masters and PhD levels;
Evidence of attracting external research funds;
Evidence of strong academic leadership.
Associate Professor
A relevant doctoral degree;
Five years of experience in either teaching/lecturing/research or industry experience
in the relevant field or discipline, at least three of which must be in Post-Graduate
supervision or mentoring of junior research staff;
Evidence of excellence as a researcher within the discipline;
Track record of successful research supervision of Masters and PhD candidates;
Leadership in Teaching and Learning and/or Research.
Senior Lecturer
Relevant doctoral degree;
Minimum of three years teaching experience in the discipline at a higher education
institution;
Evidence of excellence as a researcher within the discipline;
Successful supervision of Masters and/or PhD students.
Lecturer
A relevant Master’s degree; and
Experience in teaching within the discipline at a tertiary level or three years relevant
industry experience.
The successful candidate will be expected to complete a PhD within 5 years of date of
assumption of duty.
Advantages:
Evidence of progress towards a PhD.
Research supervision experience.
Short-listed candidates will be required to make a presentation at the interview.
Appointment to this post will be on the January 2012 Conditions of Service.
